Representing a variety of builders, this is a real neighborhood community with diversity in Southern architecture. There are amenities that bring the community togethers as well as 380 acres of scenic marsh, wetlands, parks and open spaces in this 1,700-acre community. Everything is at your doorstep, schools, shops, recreation, and just a hop skip to the beach, the airport, and downtown Charleston. A mile and a quarter road connects to Park West. Carolina Park is built around the "smart growth" concept in which residents may work, shop and play within their community without having to go out onto highway 17.
Development in Carolina Park is planned to last for 15 years, with the construction of about 350 homes the first year and 200 homes each year thereafter. 1745 residential units are planned for Carolina Park. There is a mix of National, regional and local builders. This is our favorite large community to date because of the flow of the neighborhoods and how friendly the owners seem to be. 1745 residential units will be built on 1000 acres of the tract. There will be 140 acres of parkland and recreation open space as well as 220 acres of marsh and wetlands. Commercial building will be constructed on 340 acres, with heavy buffering separating the residential neighborhoods. 850 single family homes are planned in the center of Carolina Park. There will be 545 "estate sized" lots available of at least 1/2 acre, each with marsh views and some with Wando River deep water access. These lots will be available for custom built homes. 250 apartment homes as well as 100 townhomes are planned for Carolina Park.
Right now Carolina Park is not far from the Isle of Palm's beaches and Towne Center Shopping Center, the new Lowes Home Center and the coming Costco as well as the private airfield. Located North in Mt Pleasant, off Highway 17, and close to the Mt Pleasant Wando High School. The "Children's Center" at Carolina Park is an early childhood education center for children ages 1-5. It is adjacent to the new Wando High School. The children's center sits on 3 1/2 acres and will have a private drop off area adjacent to their 18,000 sq. ft. facility. It is the only pre-school East of the Cooper to achieve National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation . Mount Pleasant's newest K-5 school opened its doors to students in August of 2017. With a capacity of 900 students (expandable to 1,200), the school is conveniently located adjacent to Wando High School and steps from the future Mount Pleasant public library. Carolina Park students can bike or walk to school each day.
Oceanside Collegiate Academy with its ambitious curriculum and a clear commitment to both academic and athletic excellence, this innovative charter high school is Mount Pleasant's first charter high school and the second high school to call Carolina Park home. For students with aspirations, OCA provides the unique opportunity to graduate having earned as many as 60 college credits.
Located on five acres adjacent to the Wando High School campus, the Wando Center for Advanced Studies serves approximately 600 students. The 126,000 square-foot facility encompasses both classroom and lab spaces for programs such as Automotive Technology, Horticulture, Cosmetology, Health Care, Public Safety/Emergency Medical Services, Child care, Biomedical Science, Film/Multimedia, and Visual Arts. The facility is shared with Trident Technical College for after-hours instruction, providing high school students with the opportunity to begin earning college credits.
There will be more than 1.3 million square feet of retail and non retail commercial space separated into three distinct commercial centers. The Community Shopping Center will be located on Park Avenue, the main street in Carolina Park. The center will house high end retailers, entertainment facilities, restaurants and a luxury hotel.The Central Retail Center will be home to a major grocery store, drug store, restaurants and miscellaneous retail shops.The Boulevard Commercial Center will be locate near the entrance to Highway 17 and will have a bank and professional offices in addition to the children's learning center. The Business Park at Carolina Park will be a class A campus setting with the potential of generating more than 10,000 new jobs. Roper St. Frances Hospital built a new 85 inpatient bed facility in Carolina Park. The facility has outpatient and inpatient surgery, intensive and critical care units as well as imaging, laboratory and a pharmacy. Carolina Park donated 80 acres of land to the town of Mt. Pleasant for a passive park as well as 54 acres for an active park consisting of a ball park and eight soccer fields.
SENIORS:
Currently under construction and slated to open in 2018, Merrill Gardens at Carolina Park will consist of 142 spacious apartments as well as 12 freestanding cottages. Offering senior living, assisted living and memory care, the facility will be located near the heart of The Village, providing convenient access to all of Carolina Park's features and amenities, as well as the future Town Center and nearby shopping, dining and more.
