OLD VILLAGE OF MT PLEASANT
The Old Village of Mount Pleasant lies along the shores of the Charleston harbor. This historic neighborhood dates back to the 1800’s and is composed of large historic multi-million dollar homes mostly found waterfront interspersed among an array of smaller homes in the $300,000 price range giving a true old neighborhood feel to the area. The Old Village is a place where children walk and ride their bikes to both the public elementary school, Mount Pleasant Academy and Moultrie Middle School. Parks in the village include the old Pitt Street Bridge, a popular fishing and walking spot, Alhambra Hall Park, and a variety of fields and gardens and even a pet park throughout the neighborhood. Churches, small historic cemeteries, and town-owned recreation buildings and facilities make the Old Village a desirable place to call home in Mount Pleasant.
Historic Pitt Street promotes some small shops and a dining area, home to the The Old Village Post House Restaurant, the Village Bakery and the Pitt Street Pharmacy, the favorite candy stop for the younger crowd.
